Our Celebrants

Our Celebrants are empathic, heart centred individuals.  They are drawn from our wider members, having been honoured in being asked to conduct a life ceremony by a couple or family.  They have all undertaken our intensive training course designed to ensure they each achieve the highest levels of ability, professionalism and originality in writing, creating and delivering all kinds of ceremonies in accordance with our philosophy.

In addition to composing from scratch, our Celebrants are trained to pay particular attention to delivering excellent public speaking.  Our Celebrants all have the ability to engage an audience, and naturally speak from the heart when delivering their ceremonies.

No matter the occasion, they are able to intuitively guide the mood of the ceremony to flow in harmony.  You’ll find the legal process a breeze with their professional guidance.

Each uses their unique talents to make your wedding day perfect.  We are sure you’ll find the person to suit your needs from Scotland’s most vibrant team of Celebrants!

So it’s International women’s day. From recent reports in the media, the impression is given that this includes only certain women under certain circumstances. Is this right? One newspaper this evening referred to Shamima Begum’s deceased child as... youtu.be/QJhVM930YXY

Marion McGunnigle

Hello, I’m Marion.
I’m a marriage and family event Celebrant, helping couples and families find the words that resonate with their passions and values across Scotland since 2009.  Providing ceremonies is both a privilege and a creative outlet for me. Using my creative writing skills and inspiring delivery style, I bring the ceremony alive allowing you both to celebrate your own values.  I make sure every layer of your ceremony is perfect, with attention to detail ensuring it’s more than just the sum of its parts.  As a seasoned public speaker I’ve worked in Scotland’s most prestigious Wedding Venues.

In Scotland, however, your Wedding can be hosted anywhere – even at home –  if booking a licensed Celebrant like me. I live near Glasgow with my twin girls. I manage our small team of Celebrants at The Love Society.  I’m passionate about delivering a great experience, so please get in touch if you are planning your Wedding at marion@lovesociety.org.uk

Janette Devlin

Hi im Janette Devlin and how I got to working as a celebrant was the fact that I was always known through my wide circle of family and friends for writing poems and reading them out at milestone parties/weddings/funerals etc. I wrote and read a poem at my sons wedding some years ago where Marion from the Love society was the celebrant. It was that day that i knew I found something that I would LOVE to do so…………….I bit the bullet and trained to become a fully fledged marriage officer. I have now married a few members of my family as well as my younger sister! (it was amazing). i have married really close friends and also and my sons friends.
I have gained an excellent reputation for capturing the couples personalities by writing their personal and beautiful ceremonies and delivering them with a blend of seriousness mixed with my wicked sense of humour.
I lived in Australia for a number of years and I was able to witness firsthand the fantastic impact a celebrant has on making a wedding ceremony so personal. I loved the choices available to the wedding couples who were able to go outwit the church or registry office and have their personalised ceremonies in their own back garden, or on the beach and up a mountain as well as in their local park. When I came back to Scotland the choices were very limited for couples to have their own personalised ceremonies. Im delighted to say the “trend” for wedding ceremony choices are a greatly improved and I for one am glad to be a part of offering this choice.
I do a range of jobs, I am a community worker and a university lecturer I have experience of working with lots of people and audiences in various environments. I have worked in New York, Minnesota Istanbul and Australia and I have lots of public speaking experience.
I have been married for 33 years and have two sons, Im desperate to be a granny but its not happening…..yet! My poor boys and their partners are demented by me.
My good friends say that I am “happy, warm, entertaining, and a joy to be around”
My family say Im funny, compassionate, just “get” people and I can make people feel special.
My wedding couples have loved their ceremonies and have given me terrific reviews.
“Professionally handled, very personal and meaningful service conducted by a very likable celebrant
“Friendly, vivacious, effervescent celebrant who was accommodating flexible and gave us a ceremony to remember”
